ASD is leading the development of key next-generation weapon systems for the Army and Navy. Under the U.S. Army’s Future Combat System (FCS) program, Armament Systems Division is leading the development of the Non-Line-of-Sight Cannon (NLOS-C), the Army’s next-generation 155-mm self-propelled howitzer, and the Non-Line-of-Sight Mortar (NLOS-M), the future mortar system for the Army. Under the Navy’s DD(X) program, the company is developing a new 155-mm gun system called the Advanced Gun System (AGS), a new 155-mm Long Range Land Attack Projectile (LRLAP), and a new missile launching system called the Mk–57 Vertical Launching System. Two programs active in the U.S. include Excalibur. The GPS guided 155-mm artillery projectile will hit with high precision even at ranges beyond 50 km. The U.S. Army has accelerated development for production in 2006. BONUS, the spin-stabilized artillery shell containing two sensor-fuzed, top-attack sub-munitions with explosively formed penetrator (EFP) warheads successfully completed readiness testing in the U.S.

Insensitive Munitions offer much greater safety through the life of the ammunition system, greatly reducing the risk of accidental damage and loss of life.

Broach – Team BROACH consists of Land Systems Munitions & Ordnance, Thales and QinetiQ. BROACH has been designed to attack a range of buried high-value targets. It is a multi-warhead system, which achieves its results by combining an initial penetrator charge with a secondary follow-through bomb, supported by multi-event hard target fusing.

Munitions Management – In December 1999 the UK MOD signed a 10 year Framework Partnering Agreement (FPA) with Land Systems Munitions & Ordnance for the supply of a range of munitions. Munitions & Ordnance has now been working closely with the UK MOD to develop options that will transform the current Agreement for conventional munitions. The aim is to deliver an improved end-to-end munitions service that is more closely aligned to the future needs of the MOD and also provides security of supply for a UK munitions capability.
